Pub of the Week: The William B, Hatfield Peverel
The William B in Hatfield Peverel, near Chelmsford, is a contemporary bar and restaurant housed in a beautifully refurbished 17th Century coaching inn.
Inside, some impressive traditional features remain. Big wooden beams combine with the William B’s distinctive modern décor to create a welcoming and luxurious ambience. Outside, their newly refurbished ‘Secret Garden’ offers a lovely suntrap for warmer days.
The food is of a very high standard, their team of chefs committed to using fresh, local produce to create a tempting, crowd-pleasing menu that changes with the seasons. Choose from fresh fish, classic British dishes, gourmet burgers, steaks from the chargrill, pastas, risottos and salads.
There are also regular themed and taster evenings, weekend specials, a senior citizen’s lunch menu, and very satisfying Sunday roast. On the bar there’s a good choice of cask ale, lager, cider and wines plus a wide range of whiskies, gins, brandies, vodkas and a tempting choice of cocktails.
The William B is available for hire for birthdays, special occasions, business meetings and other functions, with capacity for anything from 10 to 100 guests, set menu or buffet. For small gatherings of up to 10, you can enjoy the private dining space offered at ‘Chef’s table’, with the option to personalise your menu to create your perfect event.
Coming up on 29th May, the William B is offering the chance to be among the first to dine in their newly redesigned garden space. The Secret VIP Garden Party will include a complimentary Bellini on arrival, canapés and samples from the small plates menu.
