Pub of the Week: The Limes, Faversham

The Limes is a busy, popular pub in the centre of Faversham, just a short stroll from the train station. 

Once known as the Chimney Boy, the Limes has now returned to its original name, following a major refurbishment in 2015 which completely refurbished the pub from floor to ceiling. It is now a smart and vibrant pub, with a passion for locally made food and drink.

On the bar you’ll find a range of Shepherd Neame ales and lagers, brewed less than a mile away, as well as a good choice of wines, ciders, spirits and soft drinks. You can also treat yourself to a glass of bubbly, with champagne served by the glass.

The passionate, experienced team of chefs have created an extensive menu of pub classics and modern British dishes, with something to suit all tastes and appetites.  Ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible, with 100% British meats, and fresh fish delivered daily. If you are looking for the best of British food with a modern twist, showcasing the highest quality seasonal and local produce, then The Limes is the place to go. 

Start with dishes such as smoked tomato and oregano king prawns, or chilled watermelon served with hot sesame crusted feta cheese.  For the main course, there’s an excellent choice of fish dishes, including local mussels in a parsley butter sauce and chips, or go for a meaty classic with their farmhouse sausage and mash, or a 28 day matured ribeye with all the trimmings.

There are also deliciously juicy burgers made from 100% prime Kentish beef, a choice of open sandwiches, salad bowls perfect for summer, and ‘picnic boards’ for sharing, as well as some seriously tempting desserts. Food is served all day, seven days a week.

Situated close to the centre of Faversham, it’s ideally situated for a visit to this ancient market town. Visit the ‘Best of Faversham’ market, take a guided town walk, or come and visit the brewery for a Brewery Tour, all within easy walking distance of lunch at The Limes.
