Pub of the Week: The Kings Head, Wye
This week’s ‘Pub of the Week’ is the Kings Head, a beautiful Kentish pub situated at the foot of the North Downs, in the historic village of Wye.
Licensees Mark & Scott are the lifeblood of this popular pub, a pair whose passion for the quality of the experience they deliver to customers is evident in the food, service and overall ambience of Kings Head, which manages to be relaxed in nature, while staying serious about the business of looking after you properly.
Recently awarded ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the Shepherd Neame Pub Awards 2016, the food here is nothing short of excellent. The menu offers a considered choice of dishes, made from only the finest quality, fresh ingredients, proudly sourced from local suppliers, their aim being “to bring you the best produce Kent has to offer.”
Enjoy nibbles with your drinks, a lighter bite with a freshly prepared salad or omelette, or opt for one of their very tempting mains – such as the roast rump of Romney Marsh lamb, with grilled peppers, slow roast tomatoes, sheep’s cheese and soft polenta. Save room for pudding, or indulge in a liqueur coffee or affogato. All food is made on the premises by their own talented chefs, who take pride in everything that comes to your table.
On the bar you’ll find quality cask ales from Shepherd Neame, and a wide range of wines and spirits, with everything from Kentish gin to the finest New Zealand white wines.
Treat yourself to a short break, with a stay in one of the pub’s en suite rooms, tastefully and simply decorated with vintage furniture, modern accessories and wooden floors, plus crisp linen and fluffy towels. Naturally, breakfast is included, before you don your walking boots and head off to explore the outstanding countryside.
The Kings Head also host live music on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, and a Brocante and Vintage fair every 1st Saturday.
