Pub of the Week: The Bull Inn, Bethersden
The Bull Inn, located between Ashford and Tenterden in the picturesque village of Bethersden, has been offering hospitality and a warm welcome for more than 350 years.
An inn was first recorded here in 1645. The adjoining stables were once used as a prison and during World War Two the local Home Guard used the pub as their base.
Given its rich history, the Bull Inn boasts an atmospheric and charming interior complete with wooden beams, an original inglenook fireplace and comfortable sofas. Families are welcome and the pub is popular with both walkers and cyclists.
An extensive menu ranges from hearty main meals to lighter lunch offerings. Popular dishes from the grill include a selection of burgers, locally sourced steaks cooked to order and a mixed grill.Other dishes include homemade Lasagne, a pan-fried duck breast and the ever-popular beer-battered cod loin. The pub’s popular Sunday roast is priced £16 for two courses and £19 for three. Vegetarian options include a falafel and spinach burger, a Brie and beetroot tart and a selection of fresh superfood salads. There is also a children's menu.
An extensive range of draught beer includes Master Brew and a changing guest ale, plus Orangeboom Lager, Five Grain Lager, Spitfire Lager, Orchard View Apple Cider and Guinness.
Food is served from 12 noon to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 12 noon until 8pm on Sunday. Pub opening times are 12 noon to 11pm every day.
