Shepherd Neame continues to expand its range with the launch of new stout Iron Wharf
Independent Faversham-based family brewer, Shepherd Neame, has introduced a delicious new stout to its permanent range, Iron Wharf (4%).
For centuries, Faversham Creek was a major trading hub and ship building centre, and Iron Wharf takes its name from the town’s historic Wharf, where thousands of vessels were crafted and launched alongside Shepherd Neame’s iconic Brewery.
Combining UK-sourced ale and brown malts with a sprinkling of roasted barley to deliver hints of roasted and chocolate flavours, this dark stout with an appealing ruby red tint delivers a well-balanced, silky-smooth finish, showcasing the expertise of the award-winning team at Britain’s oldest brewer.
A striking logo design has been unveiled for the new brew, taking its inspiration from the hull of the ships traditionally crafted in the Wharf, and using a black and gold colour palette to reflect the premium quality of the dark beer. In addition to being incorporated on an eye-catching new keg lens and bar runner, customers can enjoy Iron Wharf in new branded glassware featuring the tagline ‘Built Bold, Brewed True’.
Shepherd Neame Chief Executive Jonathan Neame said: “We are very proud to unveil Iron Wharf to our customers. We have seen a growing demand for stout among our drinkers and it is important to us to ensure that our beer portfolio continues to evolve to cater for the latest tastes and trends.
“Our team have worked hard to perfect the recipe of this delicious new beer, and we are really pleased to honour the heritage of our hometown with its name and design.
“This is an exciting time for Shepherd Neame, as we continue to invest in refreshing and expanding our award-winning collection of beers, and it gives me great pleasure to see such an excellent stout joining our permanent range.”
It is the second new beer to join the brewer’s permanent range this year, with First Drop (4.3%), a refreshing session IPA, launching last month.
Iron Wharf is available now at selected sites across Shepherd Neame’s estate of 289 pubs and hotels across Kent, London and the South East.
