NEW LICENSEES SOUGHT FOR WILMINGTON COMMUNITY PUB, THE ORANGE TREE
Shepherd Neame’s Orange Tree pub in Wilmington is set to undergo a major refurbishment - and a unique opportunity is on offer to run it.
The independent family brewer and pub company is looking for an experienced licensee to take on the business, which is located in the heart of the village of Wilmington, on the outskirts of Dartford.
Pub bosses are spending just over £200,000 on the transformation which will bring the listed building, which was built in the 1800s, up to date with fresh decoration using a colour palette of warm neutral tones, while also paying homage to its history.
The main bar will be renovated, along with the saloon bar, which will have a wood burner as its centrepiece, with a mix of refurbished and new furniture throughout, including in its parlour and lounge.
Outside, new planters and seating will be introduced on the forecourt, while at the back the spacious garden, which is a suntrap in the warmer months, will be renovated with extra planters and new, sociable seating.
Area Business Development Manager Bart Nelson said: “The Orange Tree is a fantastic pub with great potential.
“We’re looking for someone with experience and real drive, who is looking for a new challenge.”
The family and dog friendly pub was a buzzing community haven in recent times, with regular live music and charity fundraising events, but has been closed for six months while the plans for its transformation were finalised.
Bart added: “The Orange Tree has always been a great community pub and has been missed while it’s been closed. We look forward to finding a tenant who will welcome customers back in and really make the most of the pub’s potential following this major investment.”
Once the project is completed, the pub in Hawley Road will be able to cater for around 60 covers.
