Pub of the Week: The Wheatsheaf, Farnham
Located in the heart of Farnham, The Wheatsheaf is a Grade II listed pub that combines the traditional with the contemporary. Recorded here in the early 19th century, it plays a vital part in the daily life of the town.
It is the ideal place for a drink or two with friends, a quick bite at lunchtime or a more substantial meal from the pub’s extensive menu.
There is a separate sandwich menu, and also a grazing menu that ranges from salt and pepper dusted squid and herb falafels, through to mini lamb koftas and red pepper houmous with tortilla crisps.
A trio of sharing boards are available, while there are separate menus for young diners and for Sunday, which sees the addition of a selection of traditional roasts to the usual full menu.
This full menu features starters such as ham hock and pea terrine, potted crab pate and breaded halloumi sticks through to sumptuous mains such as pan fried stone bass, beef Wellington, burgers, steaks and fish and chips. Vegetarian and vegan options include roasted vegetable spaghetti and mushroom, leek and tarragon risotto.
Pouring at the bar are a sensational range of premium lagers and classic cask ales from Britain’s oldest brewer.
