Having a lazy weekend and fancy a pub lunch but it’s past lunchtime? Don't panic, we've got you covered. These 10 pubs are ideal for those lovely weekends where time just gets forgotten.

1. The Bell Hotel, Sandwich

The Bell, in one form or another, has served the good people of Sandwich since Tudor times, but the current building dates from the early 20th Century and offers a fine example of Edwardian elegance. With most ingredients sourced locally, the menu offers something for everyone. Small plates include garlic and rosemary baked camembert and a smoked duck salad, while mains range from burgers and several fish dishes to rump of British lamb, grilled venison sausages and grilled aubergine and courgette risotto. Food is available at weekends from noon until 9.30pm.

2. The Bull, Bethersden

The Bull dates from the mid-17th Century and today offers an extensive menu, served throughout the day, with food available between noon and 9pm, Monday until Saturday, and noon to 5pm on Sunday. There is a set lunch menu served between noon and 4pm Monday to Friday, in addition to a separate pizza menu. The main menu includes a range of burgers alongside traditional offerings such as homemade cottage pie, liver and bacon and a honey glazed pork belly. Traditional roast – beef, pork, turkey or nut roast – is available on Sundays.

3. The Bull, Linton

This traditional and charming pub has been at the centre of village life since the mid-17th Century and is the ideal place for lazy late weekend lunch.  Starters include stilton and garlic mushrooms on toasted ciabatta, coated whitebait and garlic and herb baby camembert served with a fruit chutney and ciabatta. Mains such as king prawn linguine and honey and mustard marinated lamb cutlets rub shoulders with a number of traditional pub favourites, including gammon steak, liver and bacon, steaks, burgers (including a veggie option) and a pie of the week. Food is served seven days a week between noon and 9pm.

4. Caxton Arms, Brighton

Tucked away in the centre of Brighton, the Caxton Arms is a community local and the ideal place to recharge your batteries after a weekend stroll around town. There is an extensive and adventurous menu on offer that ranges from light snacks to more substantial dishes. Small plates include Asian beef strips, baby artichoke with pickled beets and macaroni cheese nuggets. Seasonal mains include a curried cod fillet, miso tofu served in a shitake mushroom broth and Asian pork belly. There is also an extensive selection of burgers available. Food is served from noon until 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and from noon until 6pm on Sunday, when then focus is on traditional roasts.

5. The Conningbrook Hotel, Ashford

onveniently located close to both the M20 and Ashford International station, the Conningbrook offers a varied and extensive menu with food served Saturday and Sunday from noon until 9.30pm. Available are a selection of burgers and sandwiches, in addition to turmeric tortilla wraps. Main meals include a pan fried chalk stream trout, chicken fajita, belly of roast pork, sausage and mash, steak and ale pie and a red lentil and chickpea dahl, which is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.

6. The Imperial, Southborough

Italian cuisine dominates the menu at the Imperial, the perfect location for a leisurely and relaxed late weekend lunch. There is a lengthy menu of bar snacks and starters, and an extensive main menu which includes a wide range of pizza, pasta and calzone alongside the likes of seafood stew with mussels (Zuppa di Pesce) and baked aubergine in cheese and tomato sauce (Aubergine Parmigiana). At weekends food is served between noon to 10pm on Saturday, and noon to 9pm on Sunday.

7. The Limes, Faversham

This historic pub, close to Faversham station, is the ideal stop-off point after a busy day of shopping in town. A full food menu is served on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from noon through to 9.30pm in the evening. It ranges from small plates such as spicy falafels, mini pork riblets and crispy salt and pepper squid, through to hearty mains that include chargrilled dry-aged 8oz rump steak, cod and chips and vegetarian-friendly mushroom mezzaluna parcels. Limes are also proud to offer the ‘best burger in Faversham.’

8. The Plough, Upper Dicker

After a walk along the Weald Way, the Plough is the ideal place for a restorative lunch. Dating from the 17th Century, this lovely old pub offers an extensive and varied menu. It ranges from sandwiches and light bites such as chicken wings and devilled whitebait, through to more extensive main dishes. These include pub classics such as bangers and mash, ploughman’s, burgers, fishcakes and a delicate spinach and ricotta tartlet, served with a tomato and basil sauce. Food is served Friday and Saturday, from noon until 9.30pm, and on Sunday from noon until 8pm.

9. The Royal Albion, Broadstairs

Dickens knew the old Royal Albion, although the current building is of Edwardian vintage. It enjoys stunning sea views and offers an extensive menu for those looking for a late weekend bite, perhaps after a bracing seaside stroll. There is an extensive range of burgers and sandwiches, including open toasted sandwiches, and also some fine fish dishes available. Other mains include a game and port pudding, roast chicken supreme and a vegetarian and vegan friendly red lentil and chickpea dahl. Food is served, seven days a week, from noon until 9.30pm.

10. Ye Olde Beverlie, Canterbury

This origins of this beautiful old pub, close to picturesque St Stephen’s Green, date back to the early 19th Century, although some parts of the Grade II –listed building are thought to be 16th Century. The varied menu features a number of pub classics (ham and eggs, breaded scampi, steak and ale pie) and burgers. The pub is also renowned for its Mexican themed menu, which features a wide variety of fajitas, tacos and mains such as paprika chicken enchilada and a 10oz dry-aged rump steak with chimichurri marinade. At weekends food is served Saturday from noon until 10pm, and on Sunday from noon until 9.30pm.
