Pub of the Week: The Clothworkers Arms, Sutton Valence

The Clothworkers Arms, in the pretty Kent village of Sutton Valence, offers a warm welcome alongside panoramic views of the stunning Weald of Kent. It is the ideal place to recharge the batteries, and is a popular destination for both cyclists and ramblers.

In the winter a fire roars reassuringly in an inglenook fireplace. When the weather allows customers can admire the surrounding countryside from the pub’s stylish garden.

The pub also boasts a pool table and a dart board, and is home to a number of darts teams. The Clothworkers is also a popular live music venue.

At the bar you will find Master Brew Kentish Ale, Whitstable Bay Pale Ale, Spitfire Amber Ale, San Miguel Spanish Lager and Foster’s Lager. Also available are Orchard View Cider and Guinness. 

The pub also stocks a range of bottled beers alongside an extensive range of spirits and a varied wine list.

Originally known as the Drovers Arms, the pub adopted its current name around the start of 20th century. Sutton Valence has an historic connection with the Lambe family, and they in turn have a connection with the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers, an ancient City of London livery company, hence the pub name.
