Pub of the Week: The Crown & Anchor, Shoreham

Soak up the sunshine this summer at riverside pub the Crown & Anchor in Shoreham-by-Sea.

It boasts an extensive waterfront terrace offering spectacular views of the River Adur, with the South Downs in the distance.

The stylish pub is a popular dining destination, with an extensive menu served from 12 noon to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 12 noon to 8pm on Sunday. If you’re looking for a light snack, choose from a selection of small plates, gourmet open sandwiches and double layered sandwiches. There is also a delicious menu of pub classics including Beer Battered Cod & Chips, Steak Burger topped with Italian Mozzarella and Bacon, and Hand Carved Roasted Ham and Eggs. The family-friendly pub also offers a special Young Diners Menu. 

The Crown & Anchor is the perfect place to enjoy a proper pint, currently serving Bishops Finger Kentish Strong Ale and Whitstable Bay Pale Ale, along with Kentish lagers Whitstable Bay Blonde, Five Grain and Spitfire Lager. International lagers Hurlimann, Amstel and San Miguel are also available, along with Guinness and Orchard View cider. The pub also offers a choice selection of premium wines and spirits, with cocktails available from 6pm every Friday and Saturday.

In addition to great food and drink, the Crown & Anchor prides itself on offering a diverse range of regular entertainment. It holds Salsa Dancing lessons every Monday, a Quiz Night every Tuesday, a Single & Mingle dating night on the first and third Wednesday of the month, Open Mic night on the first and third Thursday of the month, and a DJ every Saturday evening.

And if you are looking for a unique function space, the Crown & Anchor has a first floor room with its own bar that can accommodate up to 80 people standing or 40 seated.
