Pub of the Week – The Old Mill, Ashford
If you’re looking for delicious food, served in a cosy, relaxed environment, why not try The Old Mill in Kennington, Ashford?
The historic pub is a Grade II Listed building dating back to the early 19th century, and still retains original features such as its low oak beamed ceilings. The pub’s long heritage has also influenced the rustic country style of décor, with scrubbed wood tables decorated with candles in vintage bottles, dried Kentish hops decorating the ceilings, and bookshelves lined with old volumes.
The Old Mill offers an extensive menu to suit all tastes, from its famous handmade burgers and 28 to 35 day dry-aged steaks, to trawler-fresh seafood and superb vegetarian dishes using the finest local Kentish produce. There is also an additional lunch menu offering sandwiches, wraps and baked potatoes, and a young diners’ menu.
Beer lovers can sample a range of local brews, including Whitstable Bay Pale Ale and Whitstable Bay Blonde Lager, brewed in Faversham, and Old Dairy Red Top Ale and Chapel Down’s Curious Brew, from nearby Tenterden. International lagers San Miguel and Amstel are also currently being poured, along with Guinness and Shepherd Neame’s own Orchard View cider.
Food is served from 12 noon to 10.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and 12noon to 9.45pm on Sunday.
