Pub of the Week: The Bath Arms, Brighton

The Bath Arms is a traditional English pub in the heart of Brighton’s historic lanes.

There has been a pub on the site since 1868, making the Bath Arms the oldest licensed premises inside the original lanes area.  Now a fashionable warren of restaurants and shops, the lanes would have originally been a maze of fishing cottages, merchants and tradesmen.

Today, this friendly, welcoming pub continues to serve the local community and visitors alike, offering real ales and tasty British pub dishes.

Situated on the corner of two busy streets, one called ‘Meeting House Lane’, if forms a natural lunch spot and meeting place. Come inside to enjoy some respite from the crowds, or sit outside and watch the world go by.

On the bar you’ll find a good choice of cask ales, including Shepherd Neame seasonals and guest ales. There is also an excellent selection of wines, spirits, hot and cold soft drinks.

The menu is an inspiring combination of traditional pub fayre, with something a bit different.  Choose from classics such as beer battered fish and chips, or treat yourself to seasonal dishes such as Cassoulet of Confit Duck with Smoked Pork and Pancetta, served with Buttered Kale. There are good choices for vegetarians, and a very tempting dessert menu.
