Pub of the Week: The Old Ivy House, London
The Old Ivy House is a traditional pub in the heart of Clerkenwell in North London.
The 200 year old pub attracts a good mix of local residents, office works, students and visitors. Inside, the pub has an appealing horseshoe-shaped bar at its centre, with a variety of comfortable seating around it.
The pub has extensive food menus, with a focus on freshly prepared dishes, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible – including meats from Smithfields Market, seafood from Billingsgate Market and cheeses from Neil's Yard.
With food served all day, you are likely to find something to suit your taste and mood, whether you’re popping in for breakfast, grabbing a midday sandwich, or looking for somewhere to relax and treat yourself to dinner.
The pub is a popular lunch spot, offering a ‘Lunch Express’ menu, with a good selection of dishes for just £4.90. On Mondays, all food is half price! They also serve a lazy late Sunday Brunch from noon, and a delicious Sunday Roast with a choice of meats served with veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.
On the bar, you will find a good choice of quality cask ales from Shepherd Neame, including seasonal and bottled beers, as well as international lagers, cider and a choice of wines.
The Old Ivy House is a short walk from the Barbican Arts Centre, the Angel Islington and City University, Farrington and Old Street. It is also convenient for Smithfield Market.
