SHEPHERD NEAME HERALDS THE LAUNCH OF ITS NEW KIDS’ MENU WITH PLEDGE TO DONATE MONEY TO FOOD CHARITY
Faversham-based brewery and pub company Shepherd Neame is heralding the launch of its new kids’ menu with a pledge to donate money to food charity FareShare.
The new Menu for Minis, now available across Shepherd Neame’s managed pubs and hotels, offers a delicious selection of dishes perfect for younger diners. For every two course Meal Deal sold, Shepherd Neame will donate 50p to FareShare, its current Charity of the Year for 2023/24.
A range of classic kids’ favourites are on offer, with a focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Mains include Cheese and Tomato Pizza using Ashmore Farmhouse cheese from the award-winning Cheesemakers of Canterbury; and Battered Haddock and Chips with freshly caught fish from Kent supplier Chapmans. And there is also a tasty selection of puddings including Seasonal Berries and Pancakes using fruit from Clock House Farm based in Coxheath near Maidstone.
Shepherd Neame’s Head of Food Sang Nguyen said: “We wanted to create a vibrant, fun menu which appeals to kids but is also well-balanced and delicious! As with all our menus, the dishes are influenced by the fantastic local, seasonal produce which we are lucky enough to have on offer here in the Garden of England. Everything on the menu is cooked to order using fresh ingredients by our skilled team of chefs.”
Mains are priced £7 and puddings are £3, with a special Meal Deal of two courses for £8.50. To keep young diners entertained, the new menu is printed on an A4 activity sheet which includes colouring and puzzles, with crayons provided. Shepherd Neame’s Managing Director, Pubs, Jonathon Swaine said: “We are delighted to unveil our new kids’ menu in time for the school summer holidays! Sang and his team have worked really hard to put together a fantastic selection of dishes using great locally-sourced produce which we are sure will prove popular with our young diners.”
He added: “We are also proud to be donating money from every Meal Deal sold to our Charity of the Year, FareShare. FareShare makes a real difference to families and individuals in need and we hope that in addition to raising funds, this initiative will help raise awareness of this fantastic charity.”
FareShare is the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste. It works with the food industry to get good to eat food, that might otherwise go to waste, to a network of 8,500 charities and community groups across the UK.
The Sheps Giving committee, which oversees Shepherd Neame’s charity initiatives and donations, is working with FareShare to organise fundraising and promotional activities at the brewery and across its pub estate throughout the next 12 months.
