1. COASTGUARD, DOVER
Located directly on the seafront in St Margaret’s Bay near Dover, The Coastguard offers top quality food and drink with a stunning view. Satisfy your steak craving with their 8oz 28 day aged sirloin, served with watercress, roasted baby tomatoes, chunky chips & a smoked garlic and parsley butter. There's other meaty dishes, too, like slow braised blade of beef, and 100% steak burgers topped with smoked bacon and cheese. Tuesday night is grill night, with buy one get one free on all steaks, chicken, fish and mixed grills from 6pm.
2. THE OAK ON THE GREEN, BEARSTED
The Oak in Bearsted is known for serving up generous portions of freshly cooked food, along with great beers and wines. If you’re looking for a beef fix, there’s plenty to choose from. Tuck into their best-selling, generous porterhouse steak or, if you’re sharing, how about the surf and turf platter, with three giant king prawns, fillet steak, sea-salted house chips, and all the trimmings? There’s also a range of 100% steak burgers, and tasty Korean bbq beef tacos.
3. The Granville, Canterbury
The Granville in Lower Hardres near Canterbury has a growing reputation for serving excellent food, and is featured in The Good Food Guide. Choose a succulent rump, rib-eye or fillet and your choice of garlic butter, blue cheese, or peppercorn sauce, served with chunky chips and salad. Tuesday is steak night, with buy one get one free on all steaks. You can watch the chefs through the open kitchen as they chargrill your steaks to perfection.
4. Ship and Trades, Chatham Maritime
A well as a versatile menu of pub classics and seasonal dishes, the Ship & Trades in Chatham Maritime has chargrill as a speciality. Using the best quality meat from local farmers Joseph and Henry, hung until it reaches the optimum maturity, the choice of steaks varies daily. Choose from options such as T-bone, flat iron, tomahawk or picanha, all served up with chips, a thyme roasted tomato and grilled mushroom. Enjoy with a refreshing pint of Five Grain lager, and a view over the marina.
5. Hampton Inn
The Hampton Inn near Herne Bay enjoys a unique position, with uninterrupted sea views on three sides of this warm and friendly pub. As well as seafood, there is a great choice of steaks and grills. Every second Tuesday of the month is steak night - indulge in a tasty 10oz rump or 8oz sirloin with peppercorn or blue cheese sauce, with chips and all the trimmings for just £14.95 per person, including a pint, glass of wine or soft drink.
6. Swan and Dog, Great Chart
The Swan & Dog is well known locally for its delicious burgers and steaks. Burgers here are top quality, hand pressed patties of prime aged Kentish steak, grilled to perfection and served juicy in a warm toasted bun served with beer battered onion rings, sea-salted chips and a pot of house coleslaw. There’s also a sumptuous choice of steaks, with sides including creamed spinach, macaroni cheese, green peppercorn and brandy sauce, and much more. You will not leave hungry.
7. The Aviator, Sheerness
Just a few minutes’ drive from the Sheppey Crossing, the Aviator is the perfect pit stop for any visit to the isle. The pub recently installed their own smokers and are now offering a mouth-watering smokehouse menu. Choose from dishes such as low & slow smoked short rib of beef with a Korean glaze, served on a bed of stir fried fresh veg, or a surf & turf platter, which includes a giant king prawn cooked in garlic butter, 8oz Sirloin or Ribeye, baby plum balsamic tomatoes, chargrilled garlic potatoes and beer battered onion rings.
8. The Spitfire, West Malling
The Spitfire is a stunning contemporary pub in West Malling’s Kings Hill development. Food is served all day from 10am, with the main menu of burgers, pub classics and delicious grills served from 6pm. It it's a steak dinner you're after, you can select a locally sourced, premium matured steak from the chargrill board. Options change daily according to what’s best on the butcher’s block - with classics such as rib eye and rump, as well as chargrilled chicken and double cut lamb chops, all served sizzling hot from the grill.
9. The Dover Castle, Teynham
Situated on the A2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham, the Dover Castle in Teynham is a historic coaching inn serving up fresh food and fine ales. For steak lovers there’s an 8oz fillet or 10oz rib-eye, as well as dishes such as a full rack of bbq ribs. There’s also a great choice of burgers, including the 8oz chargrilled beef ‘Dover Ultimate Burger’ topped with bbq pulled pork, smoked bacon and cheese - a great choice if you’re looking for a meaty treat.
10. Manor Farm Barn, Southfleet
Meat Lovers will not be disappointed at the Manor Farm Barn. How about a fillet or tomahawk steak, with house potatoes, roasted tomato and juicy mushroom on the side? Or get your teeth into one of their satisfyingly meaty burgers - 100% British steak half pounders, with toppings like smoky bacon and cheese, or beef brisket, crisps onions and baconnaise, all served in a brioche bun with chips, dill pickles and house slaw.
